Dont recall Jesus having a porche for a donkey/ass.
Modest and humble come to mind when i think of Jesus.
i don't know if anyone else has posted about this, but at tonight's meeting it was announced there are two new leaflets one dealing with how to leave a legacy for the worldwide work and the other on how to make tax effective contributions?.
this maybe for the uk only but i thought it showed that they really are focussing on filling up the depleted coffers..

we rarely go.
but, we went because hubby wanted to tell the elders we are switching halls.. at first, i thought to myself that i would go out back with her when she gets fussy.
but, my baby doesn't really get fussy a lot so i just took her out back and played with her as she laughed hysterically.
I like the idea that your mum sat on the floor with him, awww how kind. I love hearing kids talking in their baby talk at the hall.....and i love having them sit with me although in one congregation i had some strange looks when a sisters grandson asked could he sit with me...a few said after the meeting to me that i shouldnt have let him distract me!!! i wasnt distracted,i totally had a great time with him, drawing pics together brilliant!!

are you saying you werent allowed out the back to play with your babies? or they were making you feel uncomfortable in doing that?
what publication did you study and how long was the study for??.
when i came in you were only allowed 6months, i didnt even get that lol...but was baptised after 5months.
it was so fast but i was ready for baptism.
I love the new book...think its great. Glad you had a study though because atleast you made a choice for yourself.

Soz issaac it didnt last that long......Its so important for a study to last for aslong as the person needs it..i definately wasnt ready for mine to end but i was ready for baptism. Cantleave..you studied with an elder...are you male? just saying coz when i said i studied with an elder its because im a girl...anyway glad you had a great elder, yes there are some nice brothers out there and so pleased you found one :)
did you all start getting the "full court press" from "friends" to start doing more things socially as you began your fade?.
i havent been invited to do a whole lot the last few months, but now all of a sudden i am getting phone calls and invites to do things.
fortunately, it hasnt been - "hey lets go out in field service" or anything like that since i would tell them to take a hike (which at this point means make myself busy at work or otherwise) .
Im still intouch with some who arent attending anymore, I cant close the door on them...who am i to say they are no longer and besides i dont know where i could be 6months, 6 years from now...no one knows so i hope and pray that if i ever lost my way id have friends who would look out for me.
In saying that im not saying i preach to my friends who no longer attend i just dont judge.

Did any of you "born in's" get to study with people other than your family? I think it's important to have a study with someone you feel you can talk too. I studied with an elder.....since found out that it isnt the normal thing to do, but hey i didnt know back then and besides i cant get my head around that "man and woman not being along together" conscience thing......

In England sure it was the norm when doing the "knowledge that leads to everlasting life" the study was to last 6months only. My study ended strangely because one minute I was having the study and the next the bible conductor wasnt at home...so i waited till the next week..still not at home and then after three weeks I realised that something wasnt right...I approached the elders and said how my study conductor had said i was ready for baptism and the elders arranged the questions...by the time the study conductor was back from wherever,i was getting baptised.
I said about my study being finished and was told "no after baptism your study finishes"..... Had alot of strange things happen which now i look back on and see the wrong....but fortunately my chin is extremely strong and takes it all :)

oh thanks JB :) Did any of you study for long? I felt that 6months was very short but i fortunately was ready... but im sure many werent.
I studied the "knowledge book"...was meant to do "require brochure" too but study ended rather strangely haha
The ones of you who were raised as JW did you have to study with your dad? That must have been hard....sure they were expecting higher things from you...was that the case?
Jb wots IIRC mean???
